Why I Paint

I paint and create mainly for my mental health. I have always created art in some form initially with cardmaking. During lockdown in 2020 I used my shielding time to learn more techniques. Watching videos and taking zoom classes. I fell in love with mixed media. Being able to lose myself in art focuses my mind so for that moment at least I can forget what is going on in the real world or take mind of any pain.
And this is still true today. It doesn't matter what is going on in my life. For a single moment just paint - and my worries and nerves and hopefully any pain can take a back seat.
My overall philosophy with my art is that it has to be fun.
When you are a child you just paint. You don't care what you paint - or where you are painting as long as it's fun. This is still true for me. If I'm not enjoying what I am doing I will stop and maybe come back to it or not. Afterall it's probably just a bit of cardboard that I've wasted so it can get recycled.
